2. What is the duration of the course offered?

12 months


3. What is the eligibility criteria for BTFS PG Diploma course?

Minimum of 50% in Masters degree from Universities of the state or any other University recognized as equivalent in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Bioinformatics or any other Life Science related courses.

Minimum of 50% in B.E./ B.Tech. – Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Bachelor of Pharmacy, Agriculture, Veterinary, MBBS and BDS (Minimum of 4 year degree in Life Sciences)

Candidates who have pursued Veterinary (BVSc & M V SC) , MBBS, MD, BDS and MDS are eligible only for BTFS Domains listed below
a) Cellular & Molecular Diagnostics (CMD) - School of Life Sciences, Manipal and The Oxford College of Sciences, Bangalore.
b) Pre-clinical, Clinical Research, Biostatistics & Data management (PCDM) - PES University, Bangalore and Maharani Lakshmi Ammanni College for Women, Bangalore.
c) Bioinformatics & Rational Drug Design (BRD) - Siddaganga Institute of Technology, Tumkur and Maharani Lakshmi Ammanni College for Women, Bangalore

4. What is the amount of fees charged for enrolling into BTFS PG Diploma course?

a) A sum of Rs. 10,000 (non-refundable) to be paid for confirming the allotted seat and Rs. 40,000 to be paid directly to the BTFS host institution.

b) A sum of Rs.10,000 (non-refundable) to be paid by DD in favour of MD KBITS during the time of counselling and Rs.40,000 to be paid directly to the chosen BTFS host institution as per the dates mentioned in the Enrollment for BTFS Batch V.

5. Can the fees be paid in installments?

There is no option for the fees to be paid in installments.  


6. Should an entrance exam be taken up to join BTFS PG Diploma course?

Yes students need to take up KBAT online exam.



7. How to take up KBAT online exam?

KBAT consists of multiple choice questions to be answered in 60 minutes. The online test is open to eligible students across the country from any cyber center or with good home-based facility of internet.



8. What is the process of admission ?

The process of admission to BTFS involves an online test KBAT (Karnataka Biotechnology Aptitude Test) followed by counselling in Bangalore.



9. Advantages of BTFS PG Diploma course versus other courses?

Internship placement assistance upon successful completion of BTFS curriculum and fellowship of Rs.10, 000 provided to students every month for 1 year (both during academic semester as well as internship period).



10. How much is the fellowship amount offered to BTFS students?

Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India has agreed to extend a fellowship support of Rs. 10,000/- per month to every student enrolled to the BTFS program.



11. How many institutions are offering BTFS PG Diploma course and where are they located?

12 institutions are offering BTFS PG Diploma course out of which 6 institutions are located within Bangalore and 6 of them outside Bangalore.



12. Are there any internship placement facilities provided for BTFS students?

Yes, Internship placement assistance is provided to students upon successful completion of BTFS curriculum where students would be undergoing 6 month internship training at companies /industries relevant to the domain opted for during their academic semester.

14. Are there any reservations for other back ward classes in the amount to be paid for getting registered to KBAT-2015?

There will be no reservations for any backward category for the Registration to KBAT-2015.


15. KBAT Online exam consists of multiple choice questions to be answered in 60 minutes from the following sections

a) BTFS Domains
b) General Biology (particularly Cell & Molecular biology)
c) Aptitude
d) English and
e) Chemistry


16. Is there any placement provided?

There will be placement assistance given after successfully completing the BTFS curriculum.
